Name your faves from oldest to newest, and say what got you hooked to them. Also, mention if there's influence of them in your current work.
Very well.
Fruits Basket - Kyo Sohma
This was the first anime I had ever watched, and Kyo was my favorite because he was the misunderstood underdog. Luckily, he ended up getting the girl! Yay!
Naruto - Rock Lee and Shino Aburame
Rock Lee was my first favorite character from this series because of his relentless determination and astounding work ethic (even if it was a it over the top sometimes). He never quit...EVER.
Shino became my favorite once I entered the fanfiction forums. I know, I know, it's not canon, but he really is such a deep and mysterious character; way cooler than Sasu-gay if you ask me. Which you didn't. Anyway, there's so much potential for him...maybe that's why I love him so much.
Bleach - Renji Aburai and Orihime Inoue
There are so many characters in this anime! You never realize it until you try to pick a favorite...so don't get me wrong, there are several others that I love, these two are just my faves.
Renji is at the top because, well, I'm just going to be honest. He is one sexy mother f@#&er.
Orihime is the sweetest, most endearing character in the show. She may not have much going on upstairs, but she's kind to a fault, loyal to the end, and loves with all her heart. This makes her my favorite female in Bleach.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Roy Mustang/Riza Hawkeye
To me, it's difficult to see where one of these characters ends and the other begins. Roy and Riza are so entwined in each others' lives and dreams. The undying devotion that and unconditional love that Riza shows toward her Colonel is inspiring. I only wish to love someone that completely. And Roy, for all his quirks and seeming laziness, sees Riza for the beauty she is. Even if neither of them come right and say it, you know that they have the deepest connection between them. *sigh* Okay, I'm done fangirling now.
Death Note - L
When I watched Death Note, I found it to be an entirely engrossing anime with an amazing plot. The characters, while brilliantly portrayed and deep as the ocean, were all pretty assholish. That it, except for L. He is the Sherlock Holmes of anime. He is everything just and right in the world. I love him. And that's all I have to say about that. Yup.
Rurouni Kenshin - Sanosuke Sagara
A lot of the characters in this show just annoyed me. Sano, however, was the highlight. He's the swarthy anti-hero whose physical strength is only surmounted by his strength of will and identity. Despite the fact that he's a laid back type of guy, he always is the first in to battle when one of his friends, or any innocent for that matter, is in danger. Plus, I do always have a soft spot for the shirtless hottie.
Trigun - Nicholas D. Wolfwood
If there was ever a tragic hero, it was Nick Wolfwood. His story was one of courage, loyalty, betrayal, and redemption. I mean, he was a traveling priest whose cross was actually a giant machine gun! What more do you need?
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Jet and Katara
Granted, while I do like this pairing, that's not the reason why these two are my faves. It's because of their courage and determination. Katara grows so much from the beginning to the end of the show and Jet, well, he was the leader of a band of refugees that all loved him and would follow him to the end. A leader with followers that devoted must be a great one indeed.
Final Fantasy - Vincent Valentine and Tifa Lockhart
These two characters really go hand in hand for me. Despite their differences in past and personality, they really have a lot in common. I won't go into details about why they're in my favorites because it would take all night...and I work tomorrow.
And that's about it for anime type favorites. Of course, I read A LOT, so I have tons of favorites from books. And I watch many, many movies, so there's those favorites as well.
I'll just name a few...
Spock, from Star Trek, makes it into the top 5. He's the epitome of restraint and logic, while at the same time, being a mystery to everyone around him. You never know when he might crack...even if he assures you he "has no feelings." Call me a nerd, but I love Star Trek...and it's all Spock's fault!
Admiral James Norrington, from Pirates of the Caribbean, also makes the top 5. He may have made some bad choices, but he redeemed himself in the end. What can I say? I fall for the tragic hero, and Norrington is the picture of one. Also, there is his love for Elizabeth Swann. It never failed, and even in the end, he put her first. That, my friends, is true love.
Even if it was never returned.
Doc Holliday may have been an actual person, but I'm going to put him down as a character all the same. Val Kilmer's portrayal of the dying cowboy in Tombstone was awesome and made me fall in love with the wild west all over again. There's something poetic about the man with nothing to lose living more than everyone else despite the fact that he's slowly deteriorating. Oh! This so makes me want to write a poem!
Indiana Jones is a sexy man-beast. That's not the only reason he's #2 in my fave characters of all time, but it's up there!
But my all time favorite character of anything that I've read or seen is none other than the great detective, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Ever since I was a small child, I've been in love with this fictional character, drawing inspiration from his wit, deduction, and sense of justice. One might say that I've even tried to fashion my own self after him as best I can. The traits that I most revere in his character can be found throughout the rest of my favorites and it's no coincidence. I've realized recently that I even am attracted to men that resemble Holmes to me in different aspects of their personalities. Call me crazy, but it's who I am.
So, that's all for now. Thanks for sticking around to read my ramblings. Props to you for not getting bored! And now, it's time to TAG! *bum bum bum*
